CA08 - Paul Cook

Who is Congressman Paul Cook? Have you seen this man? His constituents haven’t. Cook, an early endorser of Trump, has inspired his constituents to host candlelight vigils after declaring him “missing” for refusing to show up to town halls. He represents more than 280,000 Latinos, but that hasn’t stopped him from holding DREAMers hostage for border wall funding. He’s also pushed for the removal of federal national monument protection for former Japanese Internment sites at the behest of mining interests. Otherwise, we’re not really sure what he does. If you see him, tell him his constituents are concerned for his well-being and he should call home.

Congressman Cook has consistently voted against Medicaid, yet:

  • 27% of the adults in CA-08 are on Medicaid

  • 42,284 households in CA-08 receive SNAP, and 26.7% of them have a senior 60 or older in the household and 66.1% of them have a child under 18

Congressman Cook voted dozens of times to repeal the Affordable Care Act, even though it has contributed to a substantial increase in the number of insured CA-08 residents:
