Late last month, the Fresno County Republican Party invited a notorious racist, Joe Arpaio, to be their keynote speaker at their big fundraising dinner. Arpaio, who was recently convicted of criminal contempt before receiving a pardon from his friend Trump, doubled down on the racist birther conspiracy that alleges Barack Obama isn’t an American citizen. He also ran a notorious prison camp in Arizona that was widely condemned for its mistreatment of immigrants.
Fresno County’s three Republicans in Congress, Tom McClintock, Devin Nunes, and David Valadao, were silent before the event and silent now. They’ve ducked questions from reporters and constituents. Their silence is disgraceful.
Tell Congressmen McClintock, Nunes, and Valadao: denounce the racism and birtherism that the Fresno County Republican Party brought to town!
It’s 2017. The Republican Party in Fresno shouldn’t get to raise a big wad of cash peddling racist conspiracy theories. Enough is enough. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Tom McClintock, Devin Nunes, and David Valadao: you’re on notice. Condemn the Fresno County Republican Party for the platform it gave to racism.
