Doug Linney, the Co-Founder and Campaign Manager of Flip the 14, an organization focused on helping Democrats compete in all 14 Congressional Districts currently represented by a Republican, issued the following statement after the stunning upset in Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District special election:
“Flip the 14’s strategy couldn’t be any clearer or more urgent. We need to compete everywhere!
“As measured by the Cook Political Report’s Partisan Voter Index, 13 of California’s 14 congressional districts represented by a Republican are MORE Democratic than Pennsylvania’s 18th, where Democrat Conor Lamb is victorious.
“If Democrats can win in PA-18, Democrats can win anywhere in California. Let’s stop thinking small. Let’s stop prematurely writing off districts with more favorable terrain than PA-18. Let’s do everything we can to ensure the blue wave engulfs our entire state. When they go low, we go big!”
Flip the 14 is expanding the map of winnable seats in California with field organizers in all 14 districts represented by Republicans, a professionally staffed call and text center operation, a sustainable volunteer recruitment program from within the 14 districts, professional consulting services available for free to the Resistance, and key partnerships with the Resistance and organized labor that help fill in the gaps and avoid duplication of efforts. Flip the 14’s singular focus is helping Democrats take back Congress by creating the building blocks for electoral success in November. It is candidate neutral in the primary, ready to help every Democrat who advances to the general secure victory in November.
