CA50 - Duncan Hunter

Given all the investigations surrounding Congressman Duncan Hunter, keeping him on this page may just be a placeholder. The Office of Congressional Ethics and the Federal Elections Commission are both digging into alleged misuse of campaign resources, and his campaign treasurer’s office was raided with a search warrant back in February. Oh yeah, and he was one of the first Republicans in Congress to back Trump, and he’s a champion of the “border wall” that Mexico still isn’t paying for. Hunter’s got to go.

Congressman Hunter has consistently voted against Medicaid, yet:

  • 35% of the children in CA-50 are on Medicaid or CHIP, and
  • 16% of the adults in CA-50 are on Medicaid

Congressman Hunter has consistently voted against the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which helps families in need provide healthy food for children and seniors, yet:

  • 22,268 households in CA-50 receive SNAP, and 27.1% of them have a senior 60 or older in the household and 61.9% of them have a child under 18

Congressman Hunter voted dozens of times to repeal the Affordable Care Act, even though it has contributed to a substantial increase in the number of insured CA-50 residents:

  • Drop In Uninsured Rate Thanks to the Affordable Care Act in CA-50: 46.3%
  • Number of CA-50 Residents Covered Under the ACA’s Medicaid Expansion: 54,700
  • Number of CA-50 Residents Covered Through the ACA’s Marketplace Under Covered California: 25,800
